CCSB Law works with clients with respect to planning regarding the application of capital gains tax in the context of, among other circumstances, reorganizations of businesses, the split up or division of assets, dispositions of businesses and business assets, changes in use of assets, dispositions of real estate, estate planning, and freeze transactions.
As part of such planning, we advise clients about manners in which all, or a portion, of the tax on capital gains may be deferred, or in some cases, eliminated through planning and structuring to utilize the capital gains exemption. Such planning may involve “purification” transactions. We also advise clients on planning which may enable multiple family members to benefit from the capital gains exemption.
